What is Credit?

Credit is a lending mechanism that allows us to purchase goods and property that we could otherwise not afford to pay in cash. Credit scores measure our credit worthiness, and banks and credit card companies use the credit score to evaluate the likeliness that we will pay back debts owed. By paying debts on time and keeping a good credit score, lending entities know they can trust us and lend money at lower interest rates. Those who do not keep good credit scores will see higher interest rates in their loans and utilities bills, and access to credit will be restricted.

Your credit history is reflected in your credit report. The report contains all of your personal information (name, addresses, date of birth, social security number and employment history), lists your debt information (amount owed, status of payments, whether payments were made on time or late, or never paid), and gives your FICO credit score.

The best way to maintain a good credit is to understand your credit score and learn how to read your credit report.

What is Credit Repair?

Credit Repair is a legal way to fix problems with your credit; everyone has the right to repair their credit.  The 1970 Fair Credit Reporting Act states that all information posted on your credit report must be 100% accurate, complete and verifiable. Any inaccurate, incomplete or unverifiable information must be promptly corrected or deleted from your credit report. How does Credit Repair work? There are three private credit bureaus that organize and list financial information reported by creditors: Experian, Transunion and Equifax. In order to repair credit, one must contact these companies and request to update or delete inaccurate/incomplete/unverifiable information from a credit report.

Can you repair your credit on your own?

YES. You have the right to repair your credit on your own.  But if you're like most people, the time and hassle of trying to make sure you fully and accurately comply with all the steps necessary to repair your credit may not be worth it.  Triumph Law Group offers low priced services that are hassle and worry free!   How long does credit repair usually take? Credit Repair can take anywhere from three months to one year, depending on each individual case. Everyone has a unique credit history that can affect how long it takes to repair the credit.
